Delicious homemade chocolate brownie from Adriano Zumbo available from Woolworths

Can you believe now you can bake Adriano Zumbo’s signature chocolate brownie at home? Today is my birthday (yay!) and Mr F was going to order a surprise (not anymore) Opera Cake for me from Le Bon Choix – my favourite favourite favourite Opera Cake in Brisbane, however, sad news is when he called Le Bon Choix yesterday they said they NO LONGER make Opera! why why why? So we decided to bake our own birthday cake! Why not? But we are so busy at work and with the 15-month-old little monster time is the most precious thing in our world! Luckily I saw on this week’s Woolie’s catalogue Zumbo Cooking is releasing an “instant” chocolate brownie cake mix pack, what a fun idea! Mr F tried Adriano Zumob’s chocolate brownie at their shop two years ago and he said it was incredible so we are very excited to see whether this homemade mix will be as good as the “real” stuff!

Woolie is doing an introductory special “Adriano Zumbo Brownie Mix Chocolate 600g” for $6

All you need is 2 eggs, 150g melted butter, baking paper and a square baking tray. It says on the package prep time is 5 minutes but I reckon you need a good 10 minutes to finish putting all the bits and pieces together, so get a big bowl and mix everything and then chuck it into the oven for 35 minutes, sound so easy!

That’s all the ingredients you need. Off you go!

Powder mix goes into the mixing bowl, then 2 eggs…

I used Western Star unsalted butter (Mr F said he only likes Western Star product, oh well…), the packaging already got the markings of the gram weight so I just cut the required size, put the butter in a bowl and microwave for 60 seconds, pour it into the mixture…

Put the chocolate pieces into the brownie mix, the instructions suggested you leaving some for decorating so we only used half of the pack…

Mix well and ready to pour into a greased baking tray with baking paper at the bottom…

Finally put the remaining chocolate pieces on top of the brownie mix and it’s now ready to go into the oven at 180°C for 35 minutes! Wait and smell the chocolate!

Magic! 35 minutes later the yummy chocolate brownie is done!!! Cool it down before cutting into pieces and serve with delicious icecream 🙂

Happy Birthday to the little monster’s mother! Praise God for all the goods and bads 🙂

My next goal is to make the “Adriano Zumbo’s brownie” without the cake mix, yes, using the raw ingredients! I found a recipe from Zumbo on SBS website (http://www.sbs.com.au/food/recipe/11787/Brownies) I hope I’ll have time in the coming weeks to compare the two brownies, stay tuned to find out which is the best 🙂

By the way on Zumbo Cooking website there’s a video demonstration about how to use the brownie mix, enjoy!
