Baguette Bistro & Bar, Ascot

Couple of weeks ago I received a “Birthday Card” from Baguette“You deserve a celebration on Your Birthday! And that’s why we have a gift of a FREE main course“. Wooh! After the last free birthday meal at Hakataya Ramen it’s still hard to believe a restaurant is so generous and willing to give out free meals on your birthday, not to mention Baguette is a multi-award fine dining restaurant! The birthday offer is valid in your birthday month so today is the last day to use it, we did the booking on dimmi.com.au, an online instant restaurant reservation system which has over 200,000 food reviews and at the same time allowing you to earn reward points.

Baguette’s interior decor is elegant and classy. I loved the art work, the tranquil garden setting, and even the pendant lights!

I ordered the Roast Duck Breast with Pistachio Stuffing, Baby Beets, Agen Prunes and Grilled Spring Onions. The waiter asked me whether I’m ok with pinkish duck meat and I’m absolutely happy about it! Because I think the perfectly cooked duck breast should be medium to medium rare. Yum! When the dish arrived in front of me, I knew it must be really good! And the taste was just fantastic! Juicy, soft and tender duck breast with crispy skin. Just perfect!

Mr F ordered a Black Angus Fillet Steak with Duck Fat Potatoes and Green Peppercorn Sauce and he said it’s lovely too! Especially the duck fat potatoes, crispy and crunchy!

What also interest us is the Kid’s Menu, $1.5 per year of age so Little Monster only needs to pay $1.5 to get a gourmet meal with complimentary soft drink and ice-cream  Of course he’s too little for ice-cream and soft drink so the lovely waiter offered a babycino instead. How considerate 🙂

There are 3 choices in the kid’s menu: minute steak, fish and chips or pasta. Little Monster is still unable to chew any meat and he LOVES chips (which is not so good for his age :() but we thought may be for this special occasion we could relax the “healthy diet” rules a little bit.

We really appreciated the chef’s effort to cook for a one-year-old and the portion is perfect! Vegie salad has avocado, green apple and lettuce. Chips are lightly deep-fried with no salt. I am not sure what fish it is but it’s a little bit salty. Overall it has been a really pleasant dining experience, all the waiters were so attentive and the food was great, thank you Baguette!
