Taste Gallery, Sunnybank (revisit in 2014)

Haven’t been to Taste Gallery at Sunnybank for a long long time, tonight Little Monster’s beloved Auntie Cat invited us to have dinner and farewell Little Monster’s grandma after staying in Brisbane for 2 months (aka grandma survives 2 months of boredom :P). Little Monster’s favourite food is Shanghainese Xiao Long Bao – little pork soup dumplings. And he is quite picky that any Xiao Long Bao without soup will not be eaten (sigh)! We had 4 baskets of Xiao Long Bao and probably this is the only nice food at Taste Gallery

Unfortunately all the other dishes were pretty average (barely acceptable…) and it was quite disappointing because we used to have great experience at Taste Gallery in the past. Tonight we noticed there were not many diners and there were only 3 staff serving the whole restaurant (?), basically we had to keep waving to seek attention before a waiter came to take our order or even served us any water…

We ordered the signature Shanghainese Fried Dumplings but they were quite strange, the fillings were very different to what we used to have, there were cloud ear (wood ear) mushrooms and other types of strange ingredients…

The seafood soup had lots of prawns, mussels and moreton bay bugs but it was a bit fishy taste to our liking…

The hot and spicy sour soup was not as thick as we used to have, but the serving was huge!

One of the dishes that Mr F felt it’s edible was the Sizzling Beef Slices with Black Pepper, the beef pieces were quite tender 🙂

The Deep Fried Chicken with onions, shallots and pepper used to be our number one favourite! But tonight the chicken pieces were dry and the taste was very bland 😦

The last dish we had was Stir Fried Choy Sum with Garlic, it wasn’t too bad but I guess nothing could go wrong with a stir fried veggie dish…
